Chawanmushi is a savory version of the the normally sweet egg custard. Depending on how its made, it can be composed of many various ingredients. Interestingly, chawanmushi is one of the few Japanese dishes to be eaten with a spoon, as it is practically impossible to eat it with chopsticks.
