Premise[]
Mama and her family head outside to pound rice for the New Year.
Summary[]
The family is preparing to go outside for rice pounding. Mama has Papa help her fold the rice as she pounds it with the rice mallet while Ichigo and Max curiously observe them. They start out fine, but soon they get competitive with one-another and speed up their actions. Which results in Mama accidenally smashing Papa's hand.
As he runs around in pain a remorseful Mama chases after him to try to supply first aid but he's trying to avoid her. After they calm him down and tend to the injury they attempt to resume; but by now everyone is a little disappointed with what happened. They resume, with Mama making sure she goes slow as Ichigo steps in to help. Mama feels bad seeing how heavy the mallet is for Ichigo, but suddenly she gets an idea and makes a smaller, wood mallet for her, and together they pound the rice.
With the rice cakes finished, everyone dresses up to pose for a picture and enjoy the snack.

- Papa's hand lacks the bandaging mid-point in the episode after he is shown wearing it moments earlier.
